Abstract. An analysis of the resistance of a kinetic shield for energy infrastructure subjected to impact loads caused by flying objects (drones) is presented. The study includes numerical simulations performed in the Abaqus/Explicit environment, considering nonlinear material properties and contact phenomena. The analyzed shield takes the formof a ring net with a 4-in-1 weave (four rings around one central ring) made of steel wire. The response of the structure to kinetic loads was evaluated, and the minimum installation distance of the shield from the protective structure was determined. The results indicate the high effectiveness of the proposed solution and the possibility of its application for the protection of energy infrastructure under crisis conditions.
